Will a conservatory increase council tax?
As the law stands, a conservatory or extension will not increase your council tax while you’re still living at the property in question. Any changes that may affect your council tax band will be assessed when the property is sold. This means that as long as you stay in your property, your council tax rate will not increase due to a new conservatory or extension.
Do I need conservatory planning permission?
Single-storey extensions and conservatories are both defined as permitted developments. This means you don’t require planning permission, but you will need to follow building regulations to ensure that your new structure is compliant.
There are certain rules, for example, if the new conservatory covers more than 50% of the area around the house, you will need to apply for planning permission, but generally conservatories do not exceed these limits. Other exceptions that require planning permission include extensions on listed buildings and properties in designated areas.
What is the maximum amount I can borrow?
With a loan from us, you can borrow funds up to £35,000 and repay this over 2 to 7 years.
